Fashionable Teaware to Add to Your Collection
Maybe it’s because I finally caved and started marathoning Ugly Betty after all these years— I know, late to the (tea) party much? — but I’ve been getting some serious clothing cravings lately.
Clothing cravings are a lot like tea cravings: you start to scroll errant racks at Bloomingdale’s (just the outlet, I promise) or Marshall’s with a certain look or feeling in mind. Especially at this time of the year, when everyone is putting their florals on display and I’m searching for a print that adequately compliments my springtime hankerings for Adagio’s White Peach and Jasmine Silver Needle. (Seriously, have you tried these? It’s like every fruit punch you ever wanted, but the high-end, haute couture version— the kind of subtle that needs opera glasses and Lincoln Center to enjoy them properly with.)
Hence, I started looking at upping my tea-carrying game to go along with the new looks of the season!
I’ve narrowed it down to five excellent options for the fashion-forward sipaholic.
ModerniTEA
I’m super excited to bring the ModerniTEA to your attention. This is such a sleek, chic way to carry tea around that I’m can’t wait to load it up with an energizing blend and take it with me to the gym— and it looks like it will be perfect in any weather, as well!
To take a break from traditional leaf teas, the yerba mate-derived Mocha Nut Mate should be an excellent go-getter option for this kind of infuser, as well as the Arabica Earl Grey. But if you’re looking for a caffeine-free way to get All The Things Done, then try out Turmeric Bliss— it’s herbal and acts like a potently healthy shot to your immune system.
Glass Mug And Infuser
This appeals to me on so many levels because the glassware speaks of elegance while also being durable. I’m on the go constantly from client to client, so having something that’s going to sustain itself between appointments is what I need first and foremost when I’ve set aside the time for tea during the busy day.
This is the kind of mug that needs a really display-worthy tea to go with it, so definitely make sure to infuse it with something that wows whoever walks by on your break. I’d go with a slow-to-uncurl beauty like Fujian Orchid, which is a stunningly floral oolong from the Fujian region of China, or Golden Flower, also known as Huang Jin Gui that hails from nearby in Anxi County. (I’ll always love how knowledgeable Adagio is about its sourcing!)
SimpliciTEA Teapot
As someone who remembers the days of knocking my friends’ socks off with the IngenuiTEA Teapot (back before the handle was so adorable and wavy!), it’s an extra treat to see how Adagio now has an option that’s grown up with us— transitioning we tender Millennials from the dorm-party age to entertaining guests in our just-about-adulthood living spaces. Glassware like this can add a gentle but sophisticated touch to any occasion, no exception.
Similarly to the see-through option before, you should think about showcasing teas that will really show off the visual aspect to its advantage. Butterfly Pea Flower is a great guest-impresser simply by virtue of the fabulous color it paints the water when it’s done steeping— and luckily with this particular teapot, cleanup is always a cinch! I’m also a big fan of Watermelon Cooler as we slowly start thinking about warmer months, and the rose petals in there are delightful.
Double Wall Petals and Grass
The infuser mugs are both gorgeous springtime options for a stay-at-home cup. (Forgive me if I’m thinking back to the April showers, but they certainly were more bearable when I’m going to treat myself to a happy little cup while it’s cats and dogs out there. Speaking of… not to give you a little extra enabling, but there's a cats and dogs version. Wink.)
The kind of infuser you’re using here is best suited to fine loose teas that don’t need too much space to do their thing, so pick up a teaspoon or few of Green Rooibos Blueberry or even the classic Honeybush.
Handmade Chawans, or Matcha bowls
Alright now, if we’re going to talk ceramics, then I’m going to point you down the exquisitely-painted rabbit hole of Adagio’s line of handmade matcha bowls from Japan. No matcha drinker can count themselves without one! I’m particularly attracted to the dark tones of the Kuro Matcha Bowl, which are complemented by the bright-and-bubbly Midori edition. I’d say get both, that way you don’t have to decide which suits you best!
Such colorful teaware can only house colorfully flavored tea to go with it. If you’ve never investigated the flavored options that Adagio has to offer in its matcha selection, then now is the perfect time while the weather is warming up. The Matcha Raspberry, Matcha Blueberry, and Matcha Peach are all perfect for this season.
There you have it!
How do you incorporate tea in your personal style? Let me know in the comments.
Cheers!
