4 Delicious Tea and Cookie Pairings
Tea Cookies are here!
At Adagio, their main focus is everything tea related. But did you know that they also have tea cookies? After lots of tasting, testing, and consideration, we’ve come up with delicious tea pairings for each cookie! (For those who prefer herbal and decaf teas, don’t worry, we also got you covered).
1. Berry White
First in line is our Berry White cookie. With dried cranberry bits and hints of raspberry, this cookie creates a delicate yet bright-tasting snack.
For tea, we suggest Passionfruit. Made with the tropical passionfruit, it carries a rich flavor profile that compliments the brightness of the Berry White cookie. For best outcomes, steep for 3 minutes at 212 degrees. When a warm dark orange color is produced, and you begin to smell an intoxicating sweet and fruity aroma of a tropical paradise, you know it’s ready.
However, if you’re looking for another more invigorating option, we highly recommend Pomegranate Grove. With flavors of pomegranate, hibiscus, and rose combined with subtle cinnamon and ginger, this tea makes for a must-have.
For something decaffeinated to get that touch of caffeine, try Decaf Peach. Made with a decaf Ceylon black tea and peach infusion, this playful fruity option carries a bright peachy flavor that compliments the delicate flavor of the cookie. While its bright notes leave a lightness, its dried cranberries bring a tartness that leaves you wanting more!
2. Honey Rooibos
Second in line is none other than Honey Rooibos. At first bite, you’ll notice the zesty orange quickly followed by the silky buttery and honey notes that help create an orange creamsicle flavor.
With this cookie, we recommend Spring Darjeeling. Harvested from the Darjeeling district of West Bengal, India, this delicate option contains a lightness with subtle floral and fruity citrus that help pair perfectly with the Honey Rooibos. When made just right, this tea emits a delicate aroma unlike any other.
For decaf, we suggest Decaf Apricot with its bright summery tangy taste that compliments the zest of the cookies. While this tea carries a sweet fruitiness, it’s balanced with a bitterness that allows for a nice mild flavor.
If you’re looking for something a little lighter that’s caffeine-free, another wonderful choice is Lemongrass. Native to SouthEast Asia, and popular within Thai dishes, this delicate tea has an aroma of lemon and ginger that almost can be described as fragile. When steeped perfectly, you’re left with a warm honey color.
3. Vanilla Chai
Our third cookie is our Vanilla Chai. This fragrant cookie packs a powerful punch with flavors of chai and vanilla at the forefront followed by nutmeg that’s long lasting on the tongue. Rich with a fusion of spices, this cookie is sure to leave an impression.
One excellent option on our list is Almond whose aroma resembles marzipan. This beautifully aromatic tea contains a rich sweet taste that compliments seemingly everything it pairs with.
For a decaf pairing, we recommend Decaf Earl Grey. Being one of the most recognized teas in the world, this gentle option brings flavors of bergamot to the forefront with subtle hints of orange—perfect for balancing the earthy nutty flavor of the Vanilla Chai cookies.
If you’re looking for something lighter that’s caffeine-free, an alternative we have is Turmeric Bliss. While its bright fruity flavors of mango and oranges help to balance the spiciness and earthiness of turmeric and peppercorn, you’re left with a brilliant aftertaste of ginger that ties everything together.
4. Green Matcha
Lastly is our Green Matcha cookie. Cultivated from Japan’s Kyoto and Aichi prefectures, this matcha, which translates to “tea,” is made from Camellia Sinensis. While this choice of cookie contains a particular earthy and nuttiness that’s to be remembered, it’s subtle hints of the matcha taste we all love.
For regular teas, we have a couple options. The first is Strawberry due to the refreshing sweetness that balances out the matcha. The lightness of the strawberry flavor helps balance the earthiness of the cookie while its sweetness balances the savory nuttiness.
Another choice is Pu-Erh Tahiti. Vibrant in smell and color, this tropical option creates a bright and flavorful profile with papaya as its showcase. More subtle layers of rose, apple, and coconut help elevate the cookie’s earthy flavor while creating the tea’s refreshing mild and sweet taste.
And of course, those who want a decaf option, we highly suggest Decaf Vanilla. Grown and harvested from Sri Lanka, this vanilla consists of the sweet yet spicy flavor of vanilla that we all know and love.
We hope that you enjoy our cookies just as much as we do and find these pairings to be delightful!
